Connecting to Segment

In this guide, you'll learn how to connect your SlicingDice database as a destination in your Segment account.

Once your Segment data source is created in SlicingDice, it will automatically create a destination in your Segment platform. SlicingDice will collect all your Segment events such as pages, screens, identifies and tracks, enabling you to use all SlicingDice’s capabilities.

Creating a Segment Data Source in SlicingDice

Access the Data Sources section and click on Create New Data Source.
First, you’ll define a name for your data source, adding tags and a description is optional.
On the next step set Segment as your Data Source Type.

Then, click on Connect with Segment to authenticate your Segment account as you can see below.

Insert your credentials and click on Log In. You’ll be able to see a screen asking for your permission to allow SlicingDice to connect and access your Segment workspace and source.
Select the Segment workspace and source that you want to use and click on Allow.

After that, select the database you want to use as the destination for your Segment data. Then proceed to finish the data source creation.

Now all data collected by your selected Segment source will be automatically sent to the related SlicingDice database.

If you want to understand how your Segment's data is stored in SlicingDice check this documentation section.
