A detailed view over SlicingDice's pricing models and their specifications.
Creating an account and inviting users is totally free on SlicingDice. You're not required to add any payment method to explore its functionalities. You'll only need a payment method once you create a production database. You can also check the current fees on our website.
When creating a production database, you have the option to select between three different pricing models:
- Smart pricing
It's up to you to decide if you want to pay based on the storage space it takes to store your data (pay-per-gigabyte), based on the number of columns on your database, having free and unlimited data storage (pay-per-column) or allow SlicingDice to choose the cheapest option (smart pricing) every time you get charged. You can change the pricing model for the database at any time.
By using the pay-per-column pricing model you'll only pay based on how many columns you have on your database, no matter the number of rows stored. That's it. The cost formula for this model is:
Monthly spend = (Number of Columns x Cost per Column) + Insertion Plan + Query Load Plan
Calculation Example - Pay-per-Column
Consider the data on the table below. To know what is your monthly bill, you simply need to count how many columns
you have on your SlicingDice database. In this case, it's three columns:
Clicks (the entity-id column, in this case named
User ID, is not charged).
By using the pay-per-column pricing model, the amount of data (values/rows) you insert for each column (attributes or events) will NOT impact on your cost.
By using the pay-per-gigabyte pricing model you'll only pay for the storage space used to store the data on your SlicingDice database. The cost formula for this model is:
Monthly spend = (Gigabytes stored x Cost per Gigabyte) + Insertion Plan + Query Load Plan
The table below describes how we calculate the total size of your database, according to each data type you store. You can see the details of each Data Type in the Supported Data Types section.
|String||2 bytes + the UTF-8 encoded string size|
|Unique ID||2 bytes + the UTF-8 encoded string size|
|String Event||2 bytes + the UTF-8 encoded string size + 8 bytes for the timestamp|
|Integer Event||8 bytes + 8 bytes for the timestamp|
|Decimal Event||8 bytes + 8 bytes for the timestamp|
|Geolocation Event||40 bytes + 8 bytes for the timestamp|
- Null values for any column type are calculated as 0 bytes.
- Repeated values are calculated per entry, so a numeric (Integer or Decimal) column with 4 entries counts as 32 bytes.
Remember: we don't charge anything for processing the queries you make!
Calculation Example - Pay-per-Gigabyte
Consider the data on the table below. There are four different column types,
is an Unique ID column type,
Name is a String column type,
Age is an Integer column
Clicks is a String Event column type.
To generate your monthly bill, SlicingDice will look all the values stored on each column and multiply by the size factor according to the column type, plus the query and insert load plans you selected.
So on this table each value for the
columns will have 2 bytes + the UTF-8 encoded string size, the values for the column
will have 8 bytes and the values for the
Clicks column will have 2 bytes + the UTF-8
encoded string size + 8 bytes for the timestamp.
Data Insertion & Query Load
On top of the database pricing model, there are two small monthly flat fees that might apply to your database, in case you want to have higher insertion and query throughput for it. You can change the insertion and query load for your database at any time using our control panel and the change will be effective immediately.
Below you can check the monthly flat fee that applies if you want to have higher insertion throughput (Insertion Per Day) on a specific database. This applies for inserting data through API, loading module or any other insertion methods.
|Data Insertion / Throughtput||Monthly Fee|
|Normal Load - up to 10 million Insertions (and Updates) per Day||FREE - No Extra cost|
|High Load - up to 100 million Insertions (and Updates) per Day||US$ 50.00|
|Mega Load - up to 500 million Insertions (and Updates) per Day||US$ 250.00|
|Ultra Load - up to 1 billion Insertions (and Updates) per Day||US$ 500.00|
|More than 1 billion Insertions (and Updates) Per Day||Contact us for big volume discounts|
Below you can check the monthly flat fee that applies if you want to have higher query throughput (Queries Per Minute) on a specific database. This applies for querying data through API, SQL, JDBC/ODBC drivers and any other querying methods.
|Query Load||Monthly Fee|
|Normal Load - Up to 60 (non-cached) Queries Per Minute||FREE - No Extra cost|
|High Load - Up to 300 (non-cached) Queries Per Minute||US$ 50.00|
|Mega Load - Up to 600 (non-cached) Queries Per Minute||US$ 100.00|
|Ultra Load - Up to 6,000 (non-cached) Queries Per Minute||US$ 1,000.00|
|More than 6,000 (non-cached) Queries Per Minute||Contact us for big volume discounts|
Cached queries are limitless!
It's important to note that any query request (using API or SQL) that hits our cache will NOT count towards the Query Load Plan. This means that cached queries are limitless and basically free of charge.
Below you can check the monthly flat fee that applies if you want to have a higher frequency in your Data Loading. Notice that the fee is for each Loading Job.
|Loading Job Frequency||Monthly Fee for Loading Job|
|Run every 3 hours||FREE|
|Run every 60 minutes||US$ 5.00|
|Run every 30 minutes||US$ 10.00|
|Run every 10 minutes||US$ 15.00|
|Run every 1 minute||US$ 20.00|
Data Visualization Tool
In case you want to create several charts or dashboards, and the data must be updated in higher frequency, you may have some fees. Below you can check the monthly flat fee that applies if you need more charts and dashboards.
|Quantity of charts||Quantity of dashboards||Monthly Fee|
Below you can check the monthly flat fee that applies if you want a higher refresh rate of the data presented in your charts.
|Refresh rate||Monthly Fee|
|Refresh every hour||FREE|
|Refresh every 30 minutes||US$ 5.00|
|Refresh every 10 minutes||US$ 10.00|
|Refresh every minute (real-time)||US$ 25.00|
There is a fixed US$ 500.00 monthly fee to enable the generation of iFrame codes for embedding charts or dashboards created using the Data Visualization module.
