Pricing

A detailed view over SlicingDice's pricing models and their specifications.

Introduction

Creating an account and inviting users is totally free on SlicingDice. You're not required to add any payment method to explore its functionalities. You'll only need a payment method once you create a production database. You can also check the current fees on our website.

Physical Data Warehouse

When creating a production database, you have the option to select between three different pricing models:

  • Smart pricing
  • Pay-per-column
  • Pay-per-gigabyte

It's up to you to decide if you want to pay based on the storage space it takes to store your data (pay-per-gigabyte), based on the number of columns on your database, having free and unlimited data storage (pay-per-column) or allow SlicingDice to choose the cheapest option (smart pricing) every time you get charged. You can change the pricing model for the database at any time.

Smart Pricing

If you select the smart pricing model, SlicingDice will choose for you the cheapest option between pay-per-gigabyte or pay-per-column. This is the default option while creating your database.

Pay-per-column

By using the pay-per-column pricing model you'll only pay based on how many columns you have on your database, no matter the number of rows stored. That's it. The cost formula for this model is:

Monthly spend = (Number of Columns x Cost per Column) + Insertion Plan + Query Load Plan

Calculation Example - Pay-per-Column

Consider the data on the table below. To know what is your monthly bill, you simply need to count how many columns you have on your SlicingDice database. In this case, it's three columns: Name, Age and Clicks (the entity-id column, in this case named User ID, is not charged).

User ID Name Age Clicks

UUID-02 Michelle 32 Pay Now - 2018-02-10
UUID-03 Larry 47 Support - 2018-02-01

Pay-per-gigabyte

By using the pay-per-gigabyte pricing model you'll only pay for the storage space used to store the data on your SlicingDice database. The cost formula for this model is:

Monthly spend = (Gigabytes stored x Cost per Gigabyte) + Insertion Plan + Query Load Plan

The table below describes how we calculate the total size of your database, according to each data type you store. You can see the details of each Data Type in the Supported Data Types section.

Column Type Size
String 2 bytes + the UTF-8 encoded string size
Integer 4 bytes
Decimal 8 bytes
Geolocation 40 bytes
Date 8 bytes
Datetime 8 bytes
Boolean 1 byte
Unique ID 2 bytes + the UTF-8 encoded string size
String Event 2 bytes + the UTF-8 encoded string size + 8 bytes for the timestamp
Integer Event 8 bytes + 8 bytes for the timestamp
Decimal Event 8 bytes + 8 bytes for the timestamp
Geolocation Event 40 bytes + 8 bytes for the timestamp

Calculation Example - Pay-per-Gigabyte

Consider the data on the table below. There are four different column types, User ID is an Unique ID column type, Name is a String column type, Age is an Integer column type and Clicks is a String Event column type.

To generate your monthly bill, SlicingDice will look all the values stored on each column and multiply by the size factor according to the column type, plus the query and insert load plans you selected.

So on this table each value for the User ID and Name columns will have 2 bytes + the UTF-8 encoded string size, the values for the column Age will have 8 bytes and the values for the Clicks column will have 2 bytes + the UTF-8 encoded string size + 8 bytes for the timestamp.

UUID-03 Larry 47 Support - 2018-02-01

Data Insertion & Query Load

On top of the database pricing model, there are two small monthly flat fees that might apply to your database, in case you want to have higher insertion and query throughput for it. You can change the insertion and query load for your database at any time using our control panel and the change will be effective immediately.

Data Insertion

Below you can check the monthly flat fee that applies if you want to have higher insertion throughput (Insertion Per Day) on a specific database. This applies for inserting data through API, loading module or any other insertion methods.

Data Insertion / Throughtput Monthly Fee
Normal Load - up to 10 million Insertions (and Updates) per Day FREE - No Extra cost
High Load - up to 100 million Insertions (and Updates) per Day US$ 50.00
Mega Load - up to 500 million Insertions (and Updates) per Day US$ 250.00
Ultra Load - up to 1 billion Insertions (and Updates) per Day US$ 500.00
More than 1 billion Insertions (and Updates) Per Day Contact us for big volume discounts

Query Load

Below you can check the monthly flat fee that applies if you want to have higher query throughput (Queries Per Minute) on a specific database. This applies for querying data through API, SQL, JDBC/ODBC drivers and any other querying methods.

Query Load Monthly Fee
Normal Load - Up to 60 (non-cached) Queries Per Minute FREE - No Extra cost
High Load - Up to 300 (non-cached) Queries Per Minute US$ 50.00
Mega Load - Up to 600 (non-cached) Queries Per Minute US$ 100.00
Ultra Load - Up to 6,000 (non-cached) Queries Per Minute US$ 1,000.00
More than 6,000 (non-cached) Queries Per Minute Contact us for big volume discounts

Data Loading

Below you can check the monthly flat fee that applies if you want to have a higher frequency in your Data Loading. Notice that the fee is for each Loading Job.

Loading Job Frequency Monthly Fee for Loading Job
Run every 3 hours FREE
Run every 60 minutes US$ 5.00
Run every 30 minutes US$ 10.00
